About New Orleans

New Orleans is a smaller city with tons of history. It is located just up the Mississippi river from its mouth at the Gulf of Mexico. New Orleans has a lot of maritime history and is a transit point for grain coming down the Mississippi river and transiting out by larger ships docking in and around the New Orleans area. Some ships go up the river to Baton Rouge before going back out to sea.

New Orleans has a very much French Flair to the city. The French Quarter is part of that French Influence and is home to tons of entertainment. Not all of the entertainment is good for all ages, as much does tend to be for an adult audience. The historical tours, swamp tours for those who want to get out of town for tours to more rural area, and other activities in and around New Orleans make it a great place to hop on a ship.

Not only can you go to sea out of New Orleans, there are also river cruises which start out of New Orleans and go out to see various spots right along the river. The river boats are very much a different cruise than an ocean cruise.
